Avoiding the Freshman 15
“Watch out for the Freshman 15” I’m sure we’ve all heard
this phrase before. Is it inevitable that when you go off to college you
have to gain 15 pounds? With the right tools and knowledge you can learn how
to make
healthy lifestyle choices to keep the dreaded 15 away.
Cooking
Classes(Class is limited to 12)
Learn to impress your family and friends by cooking delicious dinners. You
too can cook and we’ll show you how. In this hands on class you can
learn to make quick healthy meals in your residence hall or apartment. Some
of the meals include homemade pizza, chicken burritos and chili.
Men’s
Nutrition
Do men have different nutrition concerns than women? Come find out at this
informative session just for men. Body building, protein, and supplements
are all covered extensively to help answer any questions about increasing
muscle mass and maintaining fitness and health. Other topics of interest
include decreasing body fat, protein needs, muscle dysmorphia syndrome, the
effects of alcohol and general nutrition for good health.
Smart Eating
Making good food choices can be tricky especially with the budget and time
restraints students face. This information session offers suggestions on
eating out, grocery shopping, and cooking to help maintain healthy eating
habits.

Ever wonder what they mean by simple and complex sugars? Answer this
question and discover proven facts about carbohydrates that will assist
in sorting out all those myths associated with them (Atkins Diet).

Do you ever find yourself searching through the aisles at the grocery
store wondering what’s good for you, what’s easy, what’s
quick, and most importantly what’s CHEAP? We have the solution
to your anxiety. Come and find out about your local supermarket (Publix
of Ocala Corners), what aisles are a must, how to avoid tricky sales
advertising gimmicks and misleading food packaging, and quick, easy,
roundabout, nutritious meals to get you through your hectic day.
Diet pills, do they really work?

an effect on your body in their own “unique” way? Observe
how these pills work, if there is any harm associated with them, and
exactly what they are doing to your body to make you apparently lose

on the Female Athlete Triad and the consequences of improper dieting
and weight loss. Soak in the many places to go on campus to receive
help in any area of nutrition and/or decision making specifically aimed
toward women and their unique bodies.
