Eating Out

If you are traveling, it is possible to consume a nutritious, low-fat meal while on the road. It's important to not only satisfy your hunger, but to also obtain optimal nutrition. Following are some high-carbohydrate, nutritious meals that can be consumed while on the road:

Spaghetti with meat sauce

  • Garlic bread
  • Garden salad
  • Low-fat milk

2 Bean burritos

  • Low-fat chips/salsa (if available)
  • Juice

Grilled chicken breast

  • Baked potato with margarine
  • Steamed vegetables
  • Low-fat milk

Salad bar: vegetables, beans, cheese

  • Dinner rolls
  • Applesauce
  • Frozen yogurt

Thick crust cheese (& vegetables if desired) pizza

  • Garden salad
  • Lemonade

Many fast food restaurants also offer lower fat, more nutritious choices.
