What is Cholesterol?

The body makes it and we consume it through animal products. It is used to make some hormones. The "good" cholesterol is HDL (high density lipoproteins). It is made up primarily of proteins. The "bad" cholesterol is LDL (low density lipoproteins). It is mostly made up of fat. In order to decrease our LDL we should consume less saturated fat. To increase our HDL, we should exercise regularly. An unhealthy cholesterol ratio may increase our risk of coronary heart disease.
