Presentations
on Sexual Health
FSU Today volunteers provide a great service to this campus and do so
in a fun and interactive way. As an FSU Today volunteer you will have
the chance to present to thousands of students by participating in our
Safer Sex, STIs and Sex Bowl presentations! However, those who do not
wish to present can participate in many other ways. FSU Today participates
in many Wellness Wednesday activities in the Union. We are always in
need of volunteers to help think of and set up new games, activities,
and pass out goodies at these events.
There are 3 major presentations that FSU Today handles…
- STIs- In this presentation we offer information about the major STIs
concerning the FSU student population including HPV, Herpes, HIV, Chlamydia
and Gonorrhea, and more. We show pictures of the STIs as well as answer
questions regarding treatment and/or cure as well as how to protect against
transmission.
- Safer Sex- This presentation is highly interactive. The focus of this
presentation is to demonstrate many of the ways one can protect him/herself
from pregnancy and contracting/ spreading STIs. We often ask audience
members to help out by answering questions to win prizes. They may
also help by participating in demonstrations such as hoe to properly
put on and dispose of a male and female condom! In this presentation
we cover condoms (no pun intended), birth control pills, injectable
methods of birth control, abstinence, emergency contraception and more!
- Sex Bowl- this
is when audience members get the opportunity to ask whatever sexual
health related question
they have always wanted to ask, but have
never had answered. Audience members take our question form and write
down whatever question they would like to have answered and all questions
are placed in the “sex bowl.” This way all questions
asked are anonymous and students can feel free to ask any question
they would
like without embarrassment. FSU Today presenters then take turns
drawing questions and answering them.
