Should I get tested?
If you’re not sure exactly how HIV is contracted or if you could be at risk, ask yourself the following questions:
Have you ever…

Had unprotected sex (oral, anal, vaginal)

Shared needles or works (for drugs, tattoos, body piercing)?

Had a sexually transmitted infection (chlamydia, gonorrhea, HPV, herpes, etc.)?
If you answered “Yes” to any of the above, you should seriously think about getting tested. When you come to Thagard for your HIV test, a counselor will assess your personal risk and evaluate your need for testing.
Also, if your sexual partner can answer “Yes” to any of the above questions, then you should both think about getting tested for HIV, even if you answer “No” to all three questions.
