Gambling

Gambling can be a serious problem for many people including college students. Currently 2 million (1%) of U.S. adults are estimated to meet criteria for pathological gambling in a given year. Another 4-8 million (2-3%) would be considered problem gamblers. Even though most adults who gamble will never develop a problem and will gamble responsibly, gambling can be addictive and has very similar effects on the individual as alcoholism or drug addiction would have.

Remember all betting on sporting events is illegal, except if you happen to be in certain establishments in Las Vegas. Internet gambling also is illegal, as are high stake poker games in your own home.
